About NLS&JAA
The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam has been established as a torchbearer in the field of education in the faculty of law. The institution has been established by “The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam Act” that is Assam Act XXV of 2009. The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court is the President (Chancellor) of the Law School.

The National Law School & Judiciary Academy, Assam is located in the capital city of Assam, Guwahati, with its permanent campus coming up at Agiyathuri, on the Northern bank of the Brahmaputra. Nestled in the midst of greenery with a campus area covering 21 acres, the Academy will offer the right atmosphere for educational pursuits and excellence. The area is likely to increase to 47 acres in the near future.

Recent times have seen an upsurge in the choice of law as a career and consequently enrollment to law courses. The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam has been established at an opportune time and is poised to make great strides in legal education in the state of Assam in particular and the country as a whole. 

The Academy will initially constitute a Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Science and Language. Campus
The permanent campus is being constructed at Agiyathuri, on the Northern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra. It is located in close proximity to the L G B International Airport, the Gauhati University and the IIT, Guwahati. The campus will be fully equipped to create a vibrant learning environment. At present the institution is functioning from a temporary office at Uzan Bazar, Guwahati with a handful of staff during the initial phase of establishment. Classes in graduation level are expected to commence from   August 2011. For this purpuse, a temporary campus is being set up at NEJOTI (North East Judicial Officers' Training Institute) campus in Ulubari area of Guwahati which can easily accomodate 60 students in class as well as hostels. Necessary facilities like Library, Faculty Common Room etc. are being set up in the same campus.

The institution is expected to move to its permanent location at Amingaon (Agiathuri) in about two years' time.

Scholar's Zone
For the first academic session, NLSJAA is introducing the Integrated 5 year BA LLB Course. However, in due course of time it is contemplating to introduce and run the following Graduating, Masters and Doctoral courses leading to appropriate degrees to be conferred by the School:

Admission Procedure
Admission to any of the programs offered by National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam will be based on an Admission Test. For the undergraduate courses, there shall be a National Entrance Test (NET) every year for selecting students strictly on the basis of merit demonstrated in the result of the test conducted by the School or based upon the Common Law School Admission Test (CLAT) conducted by the Committee of National Law Schools as and when School joins the said common test.
Qualification required for admission to any undergraduate course in the University is 10+2 with 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. The admission test will test (a) linguistic ability; (b) analytical skills; (c) level of general and common knowledge; d) mathematical aptitude; (e) legal reasoning; and (f) aptitude for learning law. Some preliminary psychological ability test may also be included.
Candidates and their Parents of selected candidates may be invited to meet the Director-General and the faculty members before completion of the admission procedure. There shall be no marks for the interview, though candidates may be rejected on the ground of any habit of (i) drug; (ii) alcohol; and (iii) behavior not suitable for a professional School, such as ragging.
When a candidate is rejected on any one of these grounds, opportunity shall be given for making presentations by the candidate / parents / guardian of the respective candidate to the Admission Committee and against the decision to the Director-General. The decision of the admission committee shall be final.
The maximum age limit for admission into these courses would be 20 as on 1st August, that is, a student shall not complete 20 years of age as on the date of admission. In case of SC/ST candidates, however age can be relaxed by 2 years.
There shall be not more than 60 students admitted to B.A. LL.B course in a academic year.
Fifteen percent (15%) of the total seats shall be reserved for the applicants of Scheduled Tribe (ST) and seven and a half percent (7.5%) for applicants for the Scheduled Caste (SC) applicants provided that they attain a standard for admission by scoring a cut off marks in the admission test as stipulated by the Admission Committee for such candidates. 25% seats would be reserved for the candidates from the state of Assam.

Non-Resident Indian applicants having academic qualification equivalent of 10+2 and staying abroad at the time of National Entrance Test (NET) shall take the admission test. Foreign Nationals are exempt from taking up the test.
The NET shall be held at such places and time as may be notified by the Academy every year.
The selection list shall be notified in the Academy’s website and in the Notice Board.
The selected candidates shall have to deposit semester fee, refundable deposits, non-refundable charges, halls of residence charges etc. within such date and time as may be notified by the Academy.
Any student wanting to apply for scholarship or bank loan may submit the stipulated information and forms as and when required by the Academy. Selected students, however, can make private arrangements with the banks and financial institutions, in which case the letter of the bank agreeing to pay the fee directly to the Academy on the day of admission must be submitted in response to the call for admission. Inability to pay fees as indicated on the day of admission shall forfeit the claim for admission.
In case candidates receive equal marks in the admission test their merit list shall be determined by marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Senior School Examination or the 10+2 examination) and the Secondary School Examination (Class 10 examination) taken together.
The result of the test and the merit shall be displayed on the website of the Law Academy. However, results of the selected and waiting list candidates would be communicated on a priority basis.
On any dispute the decision of the Admission Committee shall be final and binding on all parties concerned.
The general rules and guidelines of Admission are subject to change and will be notified in the Academy’s website as and when such changes take place.

MH-SSET Admission to DM/MCh Superspeciality Courses

MH-SSET Procedure for Admission to DM/MCh Superspeciality Courses

SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection will be made on the basis of preferences given by a candidate. Specified number of eligible candidates as per State Merit Number will be called for counseling and asked to fill the preference form. The candidate should present personally to fill the preference form. Proxy will not be permitted. Counseling sessions are not meant for instant seat allocation. During these sessions candidates are helped in exercising their preferences for various courses and the institutions. Seat allocation shall be made centrally at a later date on the basis of MH-SSET-2011 merit list and preferences exercised by the eligible candidates.

Selection Process shall be as follows:

Specified number of candidate will be called for counseling and preference form fill course by way of notification. All the original document will be scrutinized and the eligibility of the candidate will be ascertained. Preference form will be issued to candidates eligible in all respect, in accordance with the original documents.

The preference form shall be made available to the eligible candidate at the time of Counseling / Preference form filling process. The candidate shall be allowed to submit only one preference form.

For filling of vacant seats after first round, same preference form will be considered and no separate preference form will be required to be filled by the candidate. It is made clear that even if a candidate to whom a seat has been allotted in the 1st round wants a betterment of his/her choice. such a candidate must initially accept the allotment and join the college by completing the necessary formalities as set out by these Rules, failing which such a candidate will be thrown out of the entire admission process of the current academic year 2011-2012. If any candidate to whom a seat has been allotted in the 1st round does not join the college and course seat so allotted, it will be presumed that such a candidate is not interested in the admission process and for all further round(s) of admission, such candidate shall not be considered for allotment of any seat whatsoever.

The seat so allotted to such a candidate who does not join, will be presumed to be a vacant seat as on and from the next date after the date set out as the last date for joining the college in terms of such allotment. Such a vacant seat will be allotted in the next round of admission.

The candidates who have submitted preference form, but are not selected in the first round, are eligible for subsequent vacant seats filling round.

Based on preferences given, the seat will be allotted on merit and the allotment will be displayed on website of DMER i.e. “www.dmer.org”.

The candidates must produce all required original certificates at the time of process of filling the Preference form / Counseling and at the time of admission. A set of attested photocopy of each of the document should be submitted, as per the list given below.

(i) Admit Card & Receipt-Cum-Identity Card.
[ii] MH-SSET-2011 Marksheet.
[iii] Nationality Certificate
(iv) SSC passing certificate / Valid Passport
(v) First, Second and Third M.B.B.S, mark sheets (Part- I & Part - II wherever applicable)
(vi) Attempt Certificates of All MBBS examinations from the head of the institution. (First, Second, Third [ Part-I, Part-II ] MBBS)

(vii) MD/MS Examination Marksheet / Grade Certificate
(viii) Attempt certificate of MD/MS or it's equivalent examinations from the head of the institution.
(ix) Registration Certificate (MCI / MMC / Other State Medical Council)
(x) Certificate from Head of Institute showing that the Medical College / Institute from which the candidate has passed Post Graduate examination is recognized by Medical Council of India and the course is recognized by MCI.
(xi) Medical Fitness Certificate (as per Annexure – I)

Cut-of date for the eligibility : The eligibility of the candidate shall be determined and /or decided for all purposes including for applicability of all these Rules and Regulations by considering the last date of submission of Preference Form as the cut of date. It is made abundantly clear that if a candidate is found ineligible as on the last date of submission of preference form, in terms of these Rules and Regulations, and if such an ineligible candidate acquires the requisite eligibility after the aforesaid cut of date (i.e the last date of submission of preference form), such subsequent acquisition of eligibility will not make an ineligible candidate eligible for any purpose whatsoever, much less for the purpose of admission.

The registration once granted is valid only if the teacher and the Dean are satisfied about regularity, diligent persuasion of studies by the student as well as good conduct.

Candidate selected for admission shall be subject to disciplinary rules of MUHS / Institution / Government and local authority.

A candidate selected for Superspeciality course will not be allowed to change subject / college / institute / place on mutual basis.

In case of dispute in the matter of allotment of seat / course / institution or any other matter pertaining to the provisional selection or cancellation of admission, the decision of the Appellate Authority shall be final and binding.

Legal jurisdiction: All disputes pertaining to the conduct of examination and selection shall fall within the jurisdiction of Courts at Mumbai.

MH-SSET Procedure for Admission to DM/MCh Superspeciality Courses

ELIGIBILITY:

A candidate will be eligible for MH-SSET 2011 and for selection/admission to a course in Superspeciality if fulfills following conditions.

The candidate must be an Indian national.

The candidate must possess recognized post graduate degree MD/MS (or its equivalent) from a medical college recognized by MCI. Candidates who have appeared MD/MS or equivalent examinations are also eligible to submit application forms. However, they will be considered for selection, on production of passing certificate of postgraduation degree on the date of preference form filling and counseling.

A permanent MCI/Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC)/any other state council registration is a precondition for appearing for MH-SSET.

The minimum percentage of marks secured by the candidates in the MH-SSET 2011 for the purpose of eligibility for admission to Superspeciality courses shall be 50% for all the candidates.

A candidate who has already acquired a Superspeciality degree course in any one discipline and who has already completed the course is not eligible to apply for any other discipline.

Candidate who are presently under going Superspeciality course in one discipline are not eligible to apply for any other discipline.

INFORMATION BROCHURE AND APPLICATION FORM :

The information Brochure and the Application Form will be available for sale at the following offices of the Designated Authorities, from 25/05/2011 to 04/06/2011 excluding Sundays and Government Holidays.

The cost of application form along with the information Brochure of MH-SSET-2011 and the examination fee is Rs. 2000/- to be payable by a Demand Draft / Pay Order of any scheduled commercial bank drawn in favour of the “Director, Medical Education & Research, Mumbai” Payable at Mumbai. This amount is not refundable. Brochure and the application forms will not be issued/sent by Post/Courier.

Application form complete in all respects will be accepted in person at the above centers from 25/05/2011 to 04/06/2011 during office hours. Application forms sent through courier / Post will not be accepted.

Admit card :

The Admit card will be issued from DMER office, CET Cell from 14/06/2011 onwards during office hours.

Issue of admit card is just an enabling provision for appearing for MH-SSET and does not imply that the candidate satisfies all the requirements of eligibility conditions for admission.

In case of loss of admit card, it shall be obligatory on the part of candidate to procure duplicate admit card from the DMER Office, CET Cell, Mumbai. On the day of examination the duplicate Admit Card will be given at the examination centre not later than one hour before the commencement of examination. Duplicate Admit Card will be issued only on production of Receipt-cum-Identity card/sufficient evidence to prove that he/she is the genuine/bonafide candidate.

The candidate shall submit only one application form. Submission of more than one form will disqualify the candidate.

Schedule of MH-SSET-2011:
No candidate will be allowed to appear for the examination unless he/she holds an Admit Card and Receipt-cum-Identity card issued by the Competent Authority.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted on Tuesday, 21st June, 2011.

Time of Examination is 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The time of reporting by the candidate at the examination centre shall be 9.15 a.m. At the end of paper, candidate will hand over the OMR answer sheet and question booklet to the concerned invigilator.

All eligible candidates are required to take MH-SSET 2011 at their own cost.
